Here is a bunch of book ideas ,only two of which found a publisher. The other five never saw the light of day, one very nearly did then sank back into obscurity. Not that I’m not proud of them, and, more particularly, of what they could have grown into.

But publishers have their own ideas and motivations, it is clear.  Looking in from the outside I see publishing as a bewilderingly inexact science where everybody wants to be first to be second, a clumsy sort of Blindmans Bluff.....Hunt-the-Bestseller.....or even Hunt-the-Seller.

It’s a beautiful medium, though, infinitely flexible, inspiring, packed with possibilities, portable, and
tactile to a degree.
