SINBAD

I had met Richard O'Brian, creator of the Rocky Horror Show, two or three times and thought how great it would be to ask him to have a fresh look at the Sinbad stories from the Arabian Nights. He came up with a treatment in verse, quite brilliant in its way, full of unexpected terms and internal rhymes.

The publishing world wasn't quite ready for our partnership. Much was made of the difficulties of translating verse.....which is a shame. Those stories are very strong, and would come up as fresh as paint.
